We have arrived and have been settling in. Chris has our second bedroom all set up and organized as his "
a door to hope" Haiti office. We are thrilled that we have an inverter system that allows us to charge most devices any time of day and even turn lights on as we need them! It's actually something to get used to. We're so used to living "in the dark"! But, we are loving it. The NEW challenge is that we are higher on the mountain which means the temps are much cooler AND there's not much sun as we are nestled in the side of the mountain. SO, it's much like cave dwelling... cold. We cover up with 4 blankets and are clothed from head to toe in more than one layer usually. I know, I know... it's hard to believe! Thankful we each got flannel pjs for Christmas! We can literally walk to the bottom of the driveway and it feels 5 degrees warmer. It's crazy!
Tonight we packed and facetimed with Brynna and the Youngs. Tomorrow we leave for a few days as a door to hope has a team of high school students coming in from Brentwood Academy (TN). We will be staying at the Bethel Guest House as Dr. Bernard and Mrs. Claudette are our hosts. Kinda looking forward to some hot meals and warmer nights! And some time to take photos of some young people who are crazy about serving their God in Haiti.
Please pray with us for our safety this week and the team as we build a home for a family, repair/restore and serve at a couple different orphanages and shine light on the hope that He has showered Haiti with.
